Marie,  aka,  Nana, was so loved by us all, we are going to miss her so. We all knew that she would go one day, but then we all thought that one day would never come.  When she was 80 we were concerned about her health, when she was 90 I knew I should prepare for final arrangements, when she was 100 I figured hell nothing to worry about she will live forever. When she got to be 103 I thought she was home free, but like all great games, they come to an end. The virus caught up to her just as she was sliding into home plate. If it wasn't for the great Pandemic, of 2020, no telling how far she could have gone. Marie was born February 22, 1917, she lived through the first world pandemic of 1918, and all life's pleasures and tribulations, 2 world wars, the atomic age, man going to the moon, the invention of computers and the Internet and it was a 103 years later until the second Pandemic caught up with her.....she had a good run and almost got out alive. Marie was 1 of at least 13 children and the last survivor. When her sister Pauline Tobe who lived to be 100 died, Marie at the gravesite went gently up, patted the coffin and told her sister, "I'll see you soon Linie, but not to soon." She had a great sense of humor and always made us laugh. Marie had a close and loving family, many dear friends, raised 3 children, and grandchildren, we will all miss her greatly. For Nana to leave us when we are all in the midst of this terrible virus is oh so hard. We cannot meet to be together, to cry, to laugh, to hug one another, to celebrate her life, to mourn her loss, to tell our stories each one unique, to our own time spent with Marie. This Memorial Fundraiser is to honor Marie's life in two ways, (1) Place a bench on the Atlantic City Boardwalk at Kingston Ave. The bench will have an engraved plaque, with Marie's name and a tribute. The people who Loved Marie can come and sit on that bench, have a V and OJ, look at the ocean, have a quiet moment and remember Marie. (2) To honor the people at the nursing home who have tended to Marie for 18 years, the brave caregivers who have placed their lives in jeopardy during this pandemic, with a gift in Maries name. The picture below was taken on April 2nd, 2020 of our Nana/Marie hamming it up after making an Autism awareness poster. Marie passed away on April 9th, 2020. RIP Marie we love you and you will be so missed by us all. XOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOX Any funds over the cost of the Memorial Bench will go towards the gift to the Nursing Home.
