Marie Inocia (Yaya) Gay Memorial Fund

Donation protected
The origin of the name Yaya is synonymous with the word mother. Various cultures from different regions of the world believe that "Yaya" is the highest form of woman hood achieved by Motherhood. Every person blessed to be acquainted with Marie "Yaya" Inocia Gay was touched by her generous nature, which is why I am bringing us together to celebrate her life and memory. Yaya was a mother to every person in life she met.

Yaya was not educated in the traditional sense, but she was a headmaster when it came to the school of love and care. Yaya spent her life selfless and dedicated to others while child rearing and caring for the elderly at Senior Quarters Assisted living home as a health care aide.

There is not a single child who Yaya took care of and reared who would call her nanny. A nanny is an employee, and Yaya was never employed by any family to take care of a child. Yaya is considered a mother to all because she became a part of every family that ever allowed themselves to be blessed by her love, grace, and sense of humor.

Yaya raised Vladimir and Gina Leveque from the moment each of them was born up until the day she was called home by God. She never stopped calling to make sure we had eaten, she never stopped giving us $1 each for Christmas, and our birthdays.

She never stopped caring about us, her family and friends. Yaya was a mother to all of us and she was a mother to the very end.

The money raised in the GoFundMe will be used to memorialize her at Saint Hugh of Lincoln Church, in Huntington Station and to allow her family an appropriate post-COVID celebration of her life and her journey home. She is survived by her son Reginald Gay, grandson François Idherson Bunyani and her sister Marie Gay, but also Vladimir and Gina Leveque.

Many of us are out of work due to the pandemic, so our family is deeply appreciative of any contributions to send our beloved Yaya home.

We are thanking you all so very much.

Please stay safe and in good health.
