My friend Melanie's mom passed away. She was 50 years old, and passed away after a two year battle with cancer. She worked for years cleaning houses, undocumented, and as a single mother. Her daughters, are 18, 24, and 25. The 25-year-old has been financially the family over the past couple years, working as a mechanic. She has also done social justice work. The 18 and 24-year-olds put college on hold to physically care for their mother.

They are raising money for their mother's burial. Death is expensive.
