Maribel's Mom's Eye Surgery

Hi, I'm Katherine Chan and I am fundraising for my friend Maribel whose mom Guadalupe, 70 years old, needs surgery to remove a tumor which is located behind her eye. It will be a very delicate 6-hour surgery. This surgery requires peeling her skin off her face, removing the tumor and stitching it back. Imagine that scene in Terminator, but scarier.

Without this surgery, she will lose her sight and worse.

Thankfully, they have found a doctor in Mexico who has high confidence in her full recovery but her family needs help funding this critical surgery. Maribel is a wonderful, selfless, loyal and caring friend - and those who know her, knows she will go on a limb to help out whomever needs it. Guadalupe is Maribel's biggest love, pillar of strength, and hugest cheerleader. I've never seen such a strong bond between mom and daughter.

Guadalupe is also the matriarch of the family - having been a single mom at a young age and raising three daughters, and continuing to help raise her four grandchildren today. She's the brightest light in her family (albeit an occasional pain in the ass - Maribel's words not mine, lol) and she's truly the glue that holds the family together.

Maribel is never one to ask for help but my/our friend needs it now more than ever. Every little bit helps!
