Hi, I'm Kay.

A few weeks ago, my world changed forever.

I found out that my beautiful mum had cancer, but by the time it was discovered, it was already too late. Everything happened so fast. One minute we were trying to process the diagnosis, and then after a week of staying at the hospice with her, I was saying goodbye. Nothing could have prepared me for losing her so suddenly.

Mum’s life wasn’t easy. She carried more pain and trauma than most people could imagine, but she kept going.

She met my stepdad, Derek, when I was just two years old and in him she found the love and happiness she’d always deserved. They were soulmates. When Derek passed away, a part of Mum went with him, and she was never truly the same again.

Despite everything life threw at her, Mum never lost her kindness. She had the biggest heart, the funniest sense of humour, and would help anyone she could, even when she had very little herself. She wasn’t defined by her struggles—she was defined by her love, her strength, and the way she kept fighting. Even in her final days, she showed a courage that left everyone that knew and met her in awe.

Sadly, Mum had no savings, no assets, and no money put aside. She wasn’t able to leave anything behind financially, which means the responsibility of covering her funeral costs has fallen entirely on me and my family. We never imagined we would be facing this so suddenly.

Her final wish was to have her ashes scattered in Thailand, where Derek—her true love—was laid to rest, so they could finally be together again. More than anything, we want to make that wish come true.

We don’t expect anyone to donate, and we completely understand that times are difficult for so many people. If you’re able to spare even £1, every single donation will help us give Mum the farewell she deserves. And if you can’t donate, simply sharing her story would mean just as much to us.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for reading, for your kindness, and for helping us honour a woman who loved deeply, fought bravely, and deserved so much more time and for helping me finally be able to return her to her soulmate where they can rest in peace together.
