Maria's Fight: Health and Housing Crisis
Donation protected
My name is Maria, and I am a single mother reaching out for help during an incredibly difficult time. I am facing significant health challenges that have left me unable to work consistently and struggling to provide for my sweet 4-year-old son, who has severe autism.
Over the past few months, I have lost several jobs due to my ongoing health issues. Simple tasks often leave me breathless, and I am constantly battling fatigue and discomfort. Despite my efforts to seek medical help, I have struggled to get proper help for my brain tumor. Navigating the healthcare system on Medicaid has been overwhelming, especially when my case is complicated and often dismissed. I feel trapped in a cycle of uncertainty and fear as my health continues to decline without answers.
As a single mom, I have no immediate family support, and I am facing the very real threat of eviction. I also lack reliable childcare for my son, which makes it challenging to work and also focus on my health and seek the care I desperately need. I have lost like 90% of my hair and have become more and more weak and ill. I often feel alone in this fight. My son needs his therapies to thrive, and I am terrified of what could happen if we lose our home. And what can happen if he loses his mom when he is non-verbal is my biggest fear.
To make matters worse, my car is breaking down, which limits my ability to seek help or transport my son to the services he needs, or to get me to work, which sometimes is an hour away as I am working at different offices all the time.
I am humbly asking for your support to help cover our basic living expenses, medical costs, and transportation needs while I work to regain my health. Your generosity would mean the world to us and would provide a lifeline during this challenging time. We don’t even have warm water or gas, and it’s been a struggle now that days are getting colder. We rely on little heaters.
Thank you for considering helping us. Every little bit counts and brings us one step closer to stability and hope.
With gratitude,
Maria
