Help real people recover from Maria

My dear friend is a native of Puerto Rico. While she left the island at the age of six, a large majority of her extended family is still there (you can see some of them during a much happier time in our cover photo).  As you can imagine, this family’s need following the devastation of Hurricane Maria is great and is currently being financially supported by my friend, her mother and their spouses.   This support already includes relocating three family members who were evacuated last week with more expected to follow.  The needs will quickly outpace the resources of the family.

As friends of the family, we have created this page to share the stories of the family and to collect donations (money, services and supplies) to assist with their financial needs.   We have listed an intial goal of $5,000 simply because the page requires a goal. This actual amount needed will change as communications continue to increase with the family members still on the island and we get a better feel for all of exact needs.  Our intent is to post specific needs and the associated costs rather than just a large number.  This way, you will know exactly what your donations are intended to support and can even speciy if there a need you would like to fund directly or offer to help in non-monetary ways.

While there are many great organizations collecting money to aid in hurricane relief, I know many have been reluctant to give due to the variety of conflicting news stories about the relief efforts, or just unsure of how to help with such a large scale disaster.  We’re hoping this page will serve as a way for you to give in a very direct manner, affecting the lives of a specific family in a very immediate way.  All money collected will go directly to the support of these family members and updates to how the family is doing as well as how the money has been used will be shared so you can pray for the individuals involved and see the impact your support.

We will seek to provide as much detail as possible as to the family’s well-being and how the funds are being used while also protecting their individually privacy.  Should you want to learn more, please reach out directly.

Thanks in advance for your loving support of this awesome family!
