On September 30th, 2025, our family received devasting news that my dear sister Marianne was diagnosed with Stage 3 colon cancer. She had experienced some symptoms in January with a deep vein blood clot in her leg. Treatment with blood thinners led to low hemoglobin levels, very weak and dizzy spells and by July she required a blood transfusion and the pain in her abdomen worsened. A colonoscopy in September resulted in the diagnosis.

With much sadness her large family of 8 children are still trying to come to terms with this diagnosis. Many tears have been shed. Marianne is a loving, caring and devoted mother who has always put the needs of her children first before her own.

To prepare for surgery on December 5, 2025, Marianne has undergone five iron infusions and numerous medical appointments. Doctors will remove the cancerous tumor, 12 nearby lymph nodes, and the entire left side of her colon. Chemotherapy will follow. The full extent of the cancer and her recovery is still uncertain.

Any support during this time would be greatly appreciated. Marianne’s husband, Graham, is taking unpaid leave to be by her side, and Marianne will also be on unpaid leave for the foreseeable future. Funds raised will help cover lost wages, hospital parking, travel expenses, hotel accommodations, additional medical costs not covered by insurance, and support for their children.

We pray that God will keep Marianne and her family in His care throughout her cancer journey.
