My 18-year-old beautiful niece Marianna Bruno a freshman at Utica University has spent the last 12 days hospitalized with uncontrolled Ventricular Tachycardia. Marianna's resting heart rate is up over 200bpm then drastically drops and has continued on this erratic cycle. This has left her unable to leave her hospital bed due to the very delicate condition of her heart. After extensive testing and imaging the right side of the heart was found to be affected. The right side of the heart is much more delicate and very critical and yesterday 2/3/23 Marianna underwent heart surgery where ablation was performed. As of today, 2/4/23 the ablation is believed to have been unsuccessful. The next step is uncertain at this time. Potentially she will need to be transferred out of the area to undergo another surgery. The expected total recovery from just the ablation for a healthy 18-year-old is 12-14 weeks. Marianna is a type 1 diabetic so this will greatly impact the amount of time she will need to recover. This sudden cardiac condition has taken her very hard-working parents from their jobs as they have not left her side. Marianna's dad is receiving partial pay and her mom is a self-employed hairdresser who has had to step away from everything to care for Marianna. Their insurance will only cover 75% of medical bills which are expected to be monumental. We are asking during the month of heart awareness to bless this family with medical, travel and living expenses as she has a long road ahead.
