Mariah (papiah) has Breast Cancer

Donation protected

This is Mariah, 26. She was diagnosed with breast cancer September 21, 2018.

After a double mastectomy, a complication with reconstructive surgery, and starting chemotherapy because a genetic mutation was discovered--her village has come to this platform with humility, love, and compassion for life to ask for your help.

Mariah is an amazing woman. She is loving, giving, intelligent, faithful, and AN AWESOME CLIMBER.

I know perhaps those shouldn't be the words in caps, but I also know how much it has supported her life to have that, and share it with ANYONE who will climb with her.

Her husband, her family, her friends all know what it means to her.

More importantly they know that above all else Mariah is an example to us all of how grace and courage and beauty (inside and out) does exist in someone of this young age.

Please consider giving to Mariah to help cover medical bills that have, and will continue to, accrue in this challenging  journey.

Let's help get Mariah back on the wall!

Testimonials....

Cassidy (spouse):

"Mariah is the strongest woman I have ever met. Finding out you have cancer at 26 is a terrifying thing, and realizing how shitty the treatments will be makes that even worse, but through everything, Mariah has worked tirelessly to stay in a good place--processing the news as it comes, staying grounded in reality and mindful of the way she's feeling, and always pushing on to the next challenge and looking for the opportunity to grow. She is an amazing person and a bright light to those who know her, despite the dark circumstances."

Laurel Tyner (Mariah's mom):

"Mariah Kathryn....what do I possibly say about one of the greatest joys of my life? She changed my life for the better the day she was born. As I watched her grow she never ceased to amaze me with her innate goodness and kindness. Very early on I knew that she would touch a lot of lives and be a very bright light in a world where there is so much heartache and pain. To know Mariah is to love her because when she smiles that beautiful smile that lights up her face, she makes you feel like you are the most important, loved person in the world.

"Now, more than ever, Mariah needs to be shown your love and support as she navigates her way through the hardest fight of her life.  She has been blessed with so many people that truly love and care about her. Thank you for being there for her when she needs it the most."

Alyssa (close friend):

"It is difficult to know how to summarize the last few months since Mariah was diagnosed with breast cancer.. because honestly, the way Mariah has processed such shocking and terrifying news is a testament to who she has worked to become her whole life. She has always been someone who seeks what she can learn through painful and difficult experiences--and who also finds beauty within the hardship. She is someone who cares deeply and well for those around her and has continued to prioritize her relationships throughout this season. Mariah is strong--mentally and physically--enduring more than most and handling it with the utmost courage and grace. Rather than let a diagnosis define her, Mariah has allowed it to continue to shape and mold her into one of the most incredible people I know."

Glenn Shaw (Mariah's dad):

"I'm so impressed with Mariah. She has met every challenge cancer has thrown at her with such a great grace. I could not imagine a person handling something this tough with a better attitude. She's a determined fighter with full dependence on God to direct her through this process. Please surround her with your love, thoughts, prayers and support."

Olivia (close friend):

"Our girl is the best. If you haven't gotten the chance to meet her yet, you are definitely missing out. Mariah is relentlessly loving, genuine, passionate, sacrificial and strong.  She's one of those people that is always there, seeks to understand your heart and you can trust to always speak on your behalf. Personally, she has (and continues to) impacted me in ways that can't be put into words.

"This cancer thing really sucks - to put it lightly. And you blow me away with how gracefully you navigate one of the worst things on this earth. I am learning so much from you Mo, and very proud to be your friend."

Betsy (close friend):

"I've always known Mariah is strong, but that strength came forward in full as her life turned upside down with a cancer diagnosis. Throughout finding out she has cancer, having a double mastectomy less than two weeks later, and starting chemo at the same time as a new job - she has remained constantly hopeful and a consistent friend to others. Mariah teaches perseverance and positivity to those around her and I am so thankful that, if she has to be going through this, I have the opportunity to be able to walk with her through this process."

Mary Jo (friend and climbing pal):

"The gift of having Mariah as a friend far outweighs any words I can come up with about who she is.  To anyone who chooses to give in support of Mariah (and Cassidy) know that she (and they) are worthy in the greatest sense."
