Mariah Werkheiser medical and life expenses

This past week while skating Mariah landed wrong breaking her leg in a way that shattered it. Her tibia and fibula fractured so badly they were only held inside her body by the shin-guard she was wearing. In addition to the multiple breaks in her leg, she has broken both sides of her ankle. The swelling was too severe for doctors to fix the fractures at the time she was admitted to the ED and so they temporarily secured an external fixator to her leg-a device that involves fastening metal rods protruding through one side of the leg and out the other-while she waits for the 2nd and final surgery to permanently start the healing process.

 

I have started gofundme in hopes to help out Mariah during the time it takes to recover from this injury by lightening the stress she is going through right now as she was about to start a Nursing program but is left without a job and unable to work in her current state. To know Mariah is to love her. She’s a fiercely passionate and determined person with a cheeky and vibrant sense of humor. Not only is she tough and loyal; a person who would do anything for those she cares about, but she’s also a hard-worker that has worked for over ten years in field’s dedicated to helping others. Mariah has a heart that runs deep for those she cares about and is one of the most supportive and encouraging parents I’ve ever known.

 

Being that Mariah’s a highly active and self-sufficient person the stress of the injury alone is a lot to handle. Then to suddenly be faced with needing to find a new surgeon to take on her final surgery and also not being able to work to cover life expenses, medical bills, etc. I really believe we can all make a difference in helping out with some of the financial burden.
