Belen's Memorial Services

In 2011 my (grand) mother was diagnosed with dementia. Throughout the last few years of her life, we've watched her health dramatically decline. My vibrant, loud Abuelita who danced in her living room daily my entire life lost her ability to walk and speak a few years ago and it completely broke our hearts. She was a strong, unstoppable force of a woman who left her home country, Cuba, so that her daughter and future generations would have a better life, full of opportunities. They had close to nothing, but the clothing on their backs when they left Cuba, but once she was settled in L.A. she was able to make a sweet home in Glendale for herself, her daughter and for me, her granddaughter. On Thursday, April 4 at 10:35 am, after fighting to be here for so long, she took her last breath and left this earth. 

She was an amazing co-parent, teacher, a loving mother/father figure, a wonderful grandmother, chef, dancer, and a wonderfully generous person to all, and she will continue to be celebrated as long as I live. 

In 2017, after my mother passed away suddenly, I became my grandmother's primary caregiver. Unfortunately, I was not prepared for the financial responsibilities that come with the role, so I'm asking my community for help with funeral and memorial expenses so that I and my small family are able to give her the proper services that she so deserves. I am now struggling with the financial hardship this has all brought on. Any amount of help will go a long way and is greatly appreciated.
