Nuestra querida María Lucía Méndez falleció recientemente el viernes 24 de febrero de 2023. Lucía fue una maravillosa madre, hermana, compañera y amiga que tocó la vida de quienes la rodeaban. Deja a sus hijos Omar y Maive Méndez, Michelle, Lupita y Marta León, su pareja Carlos Soto, su madre María Lus Méndez-Torrez y muchos hermanos, sobrinas y sobrinos, nietos y amigos.

Lucía dedicó su vida a sus hijos, deseando criarlos como personas fuertes que estuvieran conectadas a la familia. Amó a todos sus hijos a través de las muchas dificultades que enfrentaron y sintió que su propósito era darles un buen comienzo en la vida. Desde muy joven, Lucía soñaba con mudarse a los Estados Unidos, meta que logró en la edad adulta. En sus años más recientes, le encantaba pasar tiempo al aire libre y pasaba muchos fines de semana el camping en dos ríos. Tenía muchos amigos y un corazón cariñoso, dedicando gran parte de su tiempo a ayudar a los demás.

Todos estamos devastados por la pérdida de Lucía y no estábamos preparados para el alto costo de un servicio funerario. Queremos darle a Lucía el memorial que se merece, para honrar su memoria y darle nuestro último adiós.

Actualmente estamos solicitando donaciones para ayudar a cubrir el costo del funeral de Lucia. Necesitamos recaudar $4763 antes del lunes 6 de marzo para poder pagar el servicio funerario del miércoles 8 de marzo. También estamos solicitando fondos adicionales para ayudar a mantener a los miembros de la familia que vivían con Lucia en sus próximos dos meses de alquiler.

Our beloved Maria Lucia Mendez recently passed on Friday, February 24th, 2023. Lucia was a wonderful mother, sister, partner, and friend who touched the lives of those around her. She leaves behind children Omar and Maive Mendez, Michelle, Lupita, and Marta Leon, partner Carlos Soto, mother Maria Lus Mendez-Torrez, and many siblings, nieces and nephews, grandchildren, and friends.

Lucia dedicated her life to her children, wishing to raise them as strong individuals that were connected to family. She loved all of her children through the many hardships they faced and she felt it was her purpose to give them a good start in life. From a young age, Lucia dreamed of moving to the United States, a goal which she achieved in adulthood. In her most recent years, she loved spending time outdoors and spent many weekends camping by dos rios. She had a lot of friends and a caring heart, spending much of her time helping others.

We are all devastated by Lucia’s loss and were not prepared for the high cost of a funeral service. We want to give Lucia the memorial she deserves, to honor her memory and say our last goodbyes.

We are currently asking for donations to help cover the cost of Lucia’s funeral. We need to raise $4763 by Monday, March 6th in order to be able to afford the funeral service for Wednesday, March 8th. We are also asking for additional funds to help support the family members that were living with Lucia in their next two months of rent.
