Help provide a proper burial for Maria Lourdes

Today is a sad day for our family. Our kind and loving nanny who took such amazing care of our family, has passed away from cancer far too young. She was 49 years old.

In 2012, Lourdes Olos (Maria Cadiz) came to Canada in hopes of building a better future for her family. What began as a job quickly became so much more. For 12 wonderful years, she was not just our nanny. She was part of our family.

She cared for our children with love, patience, and kindness. She celebrated birthdays, comforted tears, shared laughter, and helped shape our home with warmth and compassion. When her own family was finally able to join her in Canada, she went back to school in the evenings while continuing to work with us during the day, and trained to work in a medical office. Once graduating from school she insisted on coming to work with us 1 day per week to continue to work with us.

As our children got older, she made it an annual tradition to put up the Halloween decorations, which continued until this year. Our kids still love to put them up with her, even at 15 and 18 years old.

In 2024, our hearts broke when Lourdes was diagnosed with cancer. With incredible strength and courage, she fought a hard and brave battle. Even while in treatment, she made her way to our home to put up the Halloween decorations. Five months after putting up the last set of decorations, she sadly has lost her battle with cancer.

It is her family’s deepest wish to bring her back home to the Philippines to be laid to rest surrounded by loved ones and in the place where her journey began.

We are asking for your support to help cover the costs of funeral arrangements and transporting her back home. Any contribution, no matter the size, will go directly toward honouring her final wish and supporting her family during this incredibly difficult time.

Lourdes gave so much of herself to everyone around her. She loved deeply, worked tirelessly, and treated us as her own. We loved her like she was part of our family — because she truly was.

Thank you for your kindness and generosity. Please help her family give her the peaceful homecoming she deserves.
