Can you believe it? Maria Insolia Paonessa is turning 70 on May 27th!
Maria will be spending the day with her children, grandchildren and mother nature at a local conservatory.
As you know, our mom had been battling colon and rectal cancer. Through many nights in the hospital and brutal conventional treatments, Maria inspired her family, friends and even the team of doctors at Rush with her gumption and determination to live. She was even asked to speak about her experience and provide recommendations to doctors at a large Rush University conference in Chicago.
Thankfully, the cancer is in remission. Read Maria's blog: xavierastar.weebly.com
Recent tests continue to show the cancer is in remission; however, due to painful chemo and radiation treatments with lasting effects, the fight continues.
More than ever, maintenance and preventative care is necessary. Living a healthier, more conscious lifestyle has been Maria's top priority. Her willingness to try new treatments, meditate and take care of mind, body, and soul has kept her with us.
*How You Can Wish Maria A Happy Birthday* (Shhhh! It's a secret!)
We've all experienced it. Maria has influenced, guided and provided solace to her family, friends, colleagues and clients over the years. She continues to remind us during remission that pain is inevitable, but suffering is optional.
Maria's children have started a Birthday collection to help mom continue to seek alternative medicine and treatment, much of which is not covered by insurance (i.e. spiritual retreats, acupuncture, vitamin treatments, healthy eating, etc.) Any amount will make a difference.
We plan on presenting her with the total amount raised along with a list of everyone who contributed on her Birthday. We ask that this remains a secret until then. Please do not share publicly on social media.
If you prefer to contribute via check or cash, please contact (708) [phone redacted]. PayPal or QuickPay to [email redacted].
Thank you with love.
Caterina, Francesco, John-Paul, Joey and our families.

Maria and John have been married 41 years! Here they are in beautiful Sedona, Arizona.
