In December 2017, Oran K. Gragson ES student MariaJose Gonzalez-Vazquez passed away due to a sudden illness. This tragedy has had an enormous impact on MariaJose’s family, friends, and the entire Gragson ES community. 

MariaJose represented everything great about Gragson students. Her kindness, determination, talent, and love of learning were evident to all who knew her. Though MariaJose’s time with us was far too short, her impact was large.  

The MariaJose Gonzalez-Vazquez Memorial Scholarship was formed through The Public Education Foundation to honor the memory of MariaJose and assist former Gragson students with financial need as they pursue a college education.
