Maria De La Luz Romero (Mami)

It is bittersweet to have to write these words, but this evening our Mami, Maria De La Luz Romero, has finally gone to rest in peace with our Papi, Marcial, after a long 6-year battle with dementia/Alzheimer's.

She was there for so many of us growing up. She took in so many kids and gave so much love to us. I never saw her as my “babysitter”; she was and is mi Mami always and forever because she was a big part of helping raise me and many others growing up. To many others, she was The Tamale Lady that could throw down anything in the kitchen. Basically, if you walked into her home, you would walk out full!

Mami loved a good laugh with some coffee, she loved her food with flavor and extra spicy, she had a heart for her Lord and Savior, and she always put her husband, kids, and granddaughters first. Maria De La Luz was the best mami, wife, sister, and friend to anyone she met.

Now her daughter Victoria and son Ricky need your help. This has been a tough battle to watch her go through, and with all the people she has touched over the years, I’m hoping we can come up with enough to give her the service she deserves. I have been given permission to make this go fund me and her kids will be the beneficiary.

Es agridulce tener que escribir estas palabras, pero esta noche nuestra mami, María De La Luz Romero, finalmente se fue a descansar en paz con nuestro papi, Marcial, después de una larga batalla de 6 años contra la demencia/Alzheimer.

Estuvo presente para muchos de nosotros durante nuestra infancia. Acogió a tantos niños y nos dio tanto amor. Nunca la vi como mi "niñera"; fue y es mi mami siempre y para siempre, porque fue una parte importante de mi crianza y la de muchos otros. Para muchos otros, era la señora de los tamales que podía hacer cualquier cosa en la cocina. Básicamente, si entrabas a su casa, ¡salías lleno!

A mami le encantaba reírse con un café, le encantaba la comida con sabor y extra picante, tenía un corazón para su Señor y Salvador, y siempre puso a su esposo, hijos y nietas primero. María De La Luz fue la mejor mami, esposa, hermana y amiga que conoció.

Ahora su hijos Victoria y Ricky necesitan tu ayuda. Ha sido una batalla difícil verla pasar, y con todas las personas a las que ha ayudado a lo largo de los años, espero que podamos reunir lo suficiente para brindarle el servicio que merece.

La familia me ha dado permiso para hacer esto y ellos serán los beneficiarios.
