Maria and Dora Fire Fundraiser

Hi friends -- we decided to put this together to help raise some money for our dear friends and colleagues, Dora and Maria. They live together with their families in a small apartment building just a few minutes walk from the office. A couple of weeks ago, the top floor of their apartment building caught fire, and firefighters had to break all of their windows and completely hose down their whole apartment. Thankfully everyone is safe (including the cats), but many of their items are unsalvageable and much of their apartment is incredibly damaged. Their landlord has insurance which will cover structural renovation, but they will need to buy new clothes, furniture, and many of the things that make a house a home. They are staying elsewhere at the moment, but will soon be able to go back to their apartment to start and rebuild the place they've called home for many, many years.

We know that this is a tough year for everyone, for some more than others. If you are able to, we are asking that you please donate to this fund to help our beloved Dora, Maria and their families with the financial and emotional burden that this fire has caused. They have no idea we are doing this and they have not asked for help in any way, shape or form, despite us consistently checking in with them. They will be beyond thankful to receive even the smallest amount. we plan on telling them and giving them the money right before Christmas. If you know Dora and Maria, you know that they are selfless in every way and have the biggest hearts. We thought that the least we can do is provide them with a donation straight from our hearts!

How will the funds be used? -- The funds will be used to help Dora, Maria and their families create a new home for themselves (clothes, furniture, supplies, rent, etc.) after the devastation caused by a fire.
How do we intend to send the funds to the parties we are raising money for? -- We will give them a check for the full amount.
