Maria Amaya's Advanced Stage Cancer Fund

My name is Adam Amaya and I am writing on behalf of my mother Maria Amaya. Unfortunately, she was diagnosed with Advanced Stage Head and Neck Cancer, located in multiple regions of her throat. I will serve as her advocate and point-of-contact throughout this difficult time period.

My mother recently moved to Deming, NM and must consistently travel to Las Cruces, NM for treatment. I created this GoFundMe to support the costs of cancer. This includes the possibility of an extended stay at a hotel in Las Cruces in order for her to be closer to the hospital.

This diagnosis has changed her life tremendously, causing immense pain as she fights the disease. She is scheduled for major surgery on May 20th, 2022 as well as radiation and chemotherapy treatments soon after. The surgery and treatments are life-altering; therefore, we pray she defeats cancer and successfully adapts to a new normal. Although the road will be rough, she is motivated by her two children, grandchild, sibling, parents, and loved ones.

Coincidentally, she had started the process of volunteering for the organization known as “Cancer Support of Deming & Luna County.” All unused donations will be gifted to this wonderful organization, which helps cancer patients throughout the New Mexico region.
