As many of you know, my sister Kristin recently added a new addition to our family, a sweet frenchie named Margot. Unfortunately, a few weeks after bringing her home, she began having seizures and was diagnosed with juvenile epilepsy. Though treatable, epilepsy is more difficult to manage in puppies because they are constantly growing, so dosing their medications and getting them to therapeutic levels is extremely tricky.
After many very expensive hospital stays and medicine trials, the vet kept assuring Kristin that Margot could live a long, healthy life once they figured out the correct medication regimen. So of course, Kristin wanted to do everything in her power to care for her sweet pup whom she’d fallen completely in love with. In the 3 months that Margot was home, she was hospitalized 3 times for seizures, and required countless vet visits, medications, and lab draws, costing over $11,000.
Kristin later found that her pet insurance had maxed out after covering only 10% of what she’s spent on hospital stays. Last week, she had to make the impossible decision to give Margot up for adoption, as she would no longer be able to afford the expensive care Margot requires. Saturday, Margot was surrendered to an organization called French Bulldog Village Rescue. They will cover her veterinary expenses while she stays with a loving foster family until she is eligible to be adopted. This has been an extremely emotional and devastating time for Kristin, but ultimately she knew it was the best option for both her and Margot.
Many of you have reached out and asked how we can help support Kristin so I wanted to create this for anyone who feels inclined to financially contribute! Kristin would like to donate a portion of these proceeds to the French Bulldog Village Rescue, as they are a non-profit, volunteer and donation based company.
We will miss Margot tremendously
Thank You
