Hi, my name is Vicki Laurin and I am doing this fundraiser for my daughter Margo Laurin. Margo is a 54 wife and mother who lives in Burton and graduated from Bendle High School. On February 1, she saw an Oncologist surgeon in Warren Mich. A biopsy was taken of the very large tumor on the side of her tongue. On February 7 she returned to get the results and it was Cancer. The Dr. told her his game plan which was to come back that night be admitted and have surgery the next morning. Margo said "yes" as the doctor finished his sentence.

On February 8, Margo's surgery lasted 10 hours. She was taken to the ICU and was heavily sedated for two days.

Margo's face was swollen several times larger than normal and she had a trach along with stitches from ear to ear where they removed lymph nodes. They removed four teeth top and bottom on both sides as the cancer had spread into the gums along with half of her tongue which they reconstructed with muscle from her leg. Both of her thighs have several staples which the doctors tried several times before they found the right muscle. Because of this Margo now has a drop foot. Six days after the surgery Margo was fired from her job. After a week in ICU Margo was transferred to a private room. After many complaints from Margo a doctor found two bedsores and were being treated when the Social Worker told Margo she didn't qualify for Medicaid and that she would have to go home on Monday. On February 26, Margo was sent home with a feeding tube, a trach, a drop foot, and two extremely nasty bedscores.

This fundraiser is important to me as Margo had no insurance and we can expect the hospital bill surgery and doctor bills to be enormous. Any donations that we receive will go to pay these bills.
