Hey everyone,
My name is Katie McNally and I am raising funds for our dear friends, Margie Pertchik and Bent Schmidt-Nielsen. Margie and Bent have been critical members of our communities—I met them close to 15 years ago when they were parents at the Voyagers Homeschooling Co-op and these days, I hang out with them as the hosts of many house concerts and events for the Boston Scottish fiddling scene.
As many of you know, Bent is very ill and he and Margie have been incredible examples of grace, wisdom, and love as they deal with his progressive illness. He and Margie have been making the most of their remaining time together over the past year and a half—visiting with family in the US and abroad, hosting parties for friends, and making plans for a very special project together.
For years, Margie has been writing beautiful songs on piano and guitar and dreamed of releasing a full-length album of these original compositions. Bent (along with the rest of us!!) wants to see her relaunching her career as a professional singer-songwriter in a really tangible way by recording her first album since the 1980s. Their plan is to work on the project together at home over the summer, recording with a professional engineer and some of their favorite musicians. The finished project will be a 12-track CD of Margie's original compositions called "Promised Day".
The goal of this gofundme is to give us, their friends and family, a way of contributing to this project that is so important to them and showing how much we love and appreciate them. I've set the goal of $4000—a modest sum and only part of the total it takes to record, engineer, and press a CD. AND...as a small thank-you, you will receive a copy of "Promised Day" when it's completed in the fall or winter!
With deepest gratitude,
Katie, Margie, and Bent
