It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce that Margie Reid unexpectedly passed on March 7th, 2019. As many of you know, Margie was a loving and loyal mother, sister, aunt, cousin, co-worker, and friend. She leaves behind her two children - Jonathan and Danielle Pittman and many family and friends. This loss was tragic and incredibly devastating to all who knew her.
We will miss her laughter and presence in our lives. Margie was a force to deal with. She was a strong and caring woman with a heart of gold. She loved to travel and hang out with family and friends. Margie was always working on a project or a cause. She was always willing to help anyone at any time. She always had a smile on her face and she was passionate about serving the community and providing quality service to each person she met. She worked for Marshall Fields/Macys and she was a City of Chicago CAPS Community Organizer for over 20 years. She was also a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha and Trinity United Church of God.
A little over two years ago she was diagnosed with stage two breast cancer. Less than a year later cancer spread to her spine and brain. In spite of all that, her positive attitude and will to live was inspiring. Margie ’s family thanks you deeply for your support, hopes, prayers, visits, and love during her illness. The family would also like to thank everyone who has asked how they can help with a financial donation to cover her expenses, funeral and support for her two children. We would appreciate any financial donations big or small. We hope to collect enough funds so that we can to put her to rest in the way that she deserves.
In addition, we hope to create a fund that both of her children can trust to be there for them as they go forward in life without their mother. In lieu of flowers, please donate money so her family can use it for whatever needs they might have to cope with her tragic loss. Danielle is currently in college and will need money to continue to pay for school. In addition, Jonathan is looking for his first job and hopes to return to college. In the meantime he will need to secure housing and support himself. Please consider giving to help Margie’s family in this time of need. Anything you donate will be greatly appreciated. Thank you all and please keep Margie’s family in your thoughts and prayers.
