Margarita's Medical Treatment

I reach out to you with my faith strong that with God's will our goal can be reached. Many of you might already be aware of my sister in law's health condition but for those that are not let me give you an insight. My sister in law Margarita Beltran 29 years old has been fighting MS (multiple Sclerosis) since July of 2009. This disease has taken many of the things we take for granted from her. Loss of sight for period of time, limit her walking ability enabling to care for her little ones and even care for her self. There are treatments available to slow disease progression, but there is no cure. She has trialed medications that vary in their effectiveness, and are not without harsh side effects. Although scientists are optimistic that one day a cure can be found, with the uncertainty of this disease we never now when she'll have a relapse or attack and the severity of it. Through years of research and prayer we came across Clinica Ruiz in Puebla, Mexico which is one the top medical centers. Not to mention the extend of experience and preparation Dr. Ruiz has obtain much of it in Mayo clinic in Minnesota. It came as an answer prayer after looking further into the treatment and outcome results our faith is strong that this is the best option for her.
Clinica Ruiz offers HSCT it works by taking & storing stem cells from the blood, blasting the body with chemo to kill off the immune system, before re infusing the stem cells & building a new immune system, free from the memory of MS. The idea is that by wiping out and rebooting the immune system it will halt disease progression, and stop any further relapses or attacks.
While this treatment doesn't work for everyone, it is understood to be effective for 70-90% of patients with MS & best odds are for those with RRMS & early on in their disease. It's not without risks & certainly not for the faint hearted but it's the only chance of halting this disease. We are fighting for her health as she has little ones that need her and all of us her family that want to see her healthy with a good quality of life! And besides, she's never been one to do things in halves.
The application and beginning process has been started, now we reach out for support from friends and family. As this is treatment that has to be paid for completely by recipient. The odds of this treatment working are in her favor, but it's not cheap. Hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) in Mexico is $54,500 dollars! and that's just for the treatment itself and out patient accommodation. She will need a care giver to accompany her every step of the way (most likely her husband) including assistance and meal preparation for the 26 - 28+ days they will be in Mexico. There's also need to factor in flights for the two and the logistics of being in 'lock down' for 3 months after they arrive home.

Acudo a ustedes con mi fe firme que con la voluntad de Dios se puede alcanzar nuestra meta. Muchos de ustedes ya conocen la condición de salud de mi cuñada, pero para aquellos que no, Mi cuñada Margarita Beltrán, de 29 años, ha estado luchando contra la EM (esclerosis múltiple) desde julio del 2009. Esta enfermedad ha tomado muchas de las cosas que damos por hecho de ella. Pérdida de la vista por un período de tiempo, limita su capacidad para caminar y poder cuidar a sus hijos e incluso cuidar de sí misma. Existen tratamientos disponibles para retrasar la progresión de la enfermedad, pero no hay cura. Ella ha probado medicamentos que varían en su efectividad y no están exentos de fuertes efectos secundarios. Aunque los científicos son optimistas de que un día se puede encontrar una cura, con la incertidumbre de esta enfermedad, nunca se sabe cuando pueda tener una recaída o ataque y la gravedad de ello. A través de años de investigación y oración nos encontramos con la Clínica Ruiz en Puebla, México, que es uno de los principales centros médicos. Cuentan tambien con la extensión, experiencia y la preparación del Dr. Ruiz, obtuvo gran parte de ella en la clínica Mayo en Minnesota USA. Clinica Ruiz llegó como respuesta a nuestras oraciones después de analizar más a fondo el tratamiento y los resultados, nuestra fe es fuerte, que esta es la mejor opción para ella.
Clinica Ruiz ofrece HSCT funciona al tomar y almacenar células madre de la sangre, eliminando el quimiotaxel del cuerpo para matar el sistema inmune, antes de volver a infundir las células madre y construir un nuevo sistema inmune, libre de la memoria de la EM. La idea es que al aniquilar y reiniciar el sistema inmunitario se detendrá la progresión de la enfermedad y se detendrá cualquier nueva recaída o ataque.
Este tratamiento no funciona para todos, es eficaz para el 70-90% de los pacientes con EM y las mejores probabilidades son para aquellos con EMRR y desde el inicio de su enfermedad. No está exento de riesgos, y ciertamente no es apto para personas débiles, pero es la única posibilidad de detener esta enfermedad. ¡Luchamos por su salud ya que tiene hijos que la necesitan, todos nosotros, su familia, que desean verla sana con una buena calidad de vida! Y además, ella nunca ha sido alguien que haga las cosas en mitades.
La aplicación y el proceso de inicio han comensado, ahora buscamos el apoyo de amigos y familiares. Ya que este es un tratamiento que debe ser pagado completamente por el paciente. Las probabilidades de que este tratamiento funcione son a su favor, pero no es barato. El trasplante de células madre hematopoyéticas (TCMH) en México es de $ 54,500 dólares. y eso es solo para el tratamiento en sí y para el alojamiento del paciente. Necesitará un cuidador que la acompañe en cada paso del camino (muy probablemente su esposo) incluyendo asistencia y preparación de comidas para los 26 - 28+ días que estarán en México. También es necesario tener en cuenta los vuelos para los dos y la logística de estar en "bloqueo" durante 3 meses después de llegar a casa.
