Margaret Ward and Family

In January 2020, my wonderful wife Margaret was one of the early unlucky people to get covid. At the time we did not know nor did the system know.

And it started a 3-year battle, which ended with her passing surrounded by her family. It took a long time for doctors to realize that the damage being done to her liver and kidneys was due to an autoimmune response kicked off by her COVID infection.

We lost our wonderful Wife/Mother.

We had been left with hundreds of thousands of dollars in medical bills which I have mostly paid off and deferred my retirement.

This was never expected. Margaret was never a fitness guru but was healthy her entire life.

*UPDATE* As we had never expected this, we all just assume what the doctors tell you is the truth.

In December 2020 Margaret had a bleed and was told it was due to a blockage. And in June of 2021 was told her liver was actually improving.

A further update. And this has been so painful. After months of digging discovered Margaret had no issue beyond fatty liver. Which was due to her having PCOS.

What killed my wife? Well at some point the biopsy done in 2021 at St Rose Hospital was misread by a 1st-year resident. And NAFLD with a Fibrosis score of 1. Got entered as NASH Cirrhosis.

This on her record continued, so every doctor after assumed she had a biopsy confirmed Cirrhosis. When she did not.

On her entry into the hospital, she had an Esphugeal bleed due to acid erosion caused by a hital hernia. Which had been noticed by the hospital but left untreated.

That should have been an in-and-out of the emergency. But while in Emergency, she had an Acute Kidney Injury after acquiring ESBL from the ER. Which they then treated with vancomycin and got the dosage wrong causing greater kidney injury.

She was then transferred to the medical ward, were she caught Covid, then RSV, and another strain of ESBL.

Despite Margret being anemic, since she was bedridden they treated her with clot busters, which then screwed up her blood panels. Making her INR look higher than it was. Leading doctors to think her liver was failing. Even though imaging and LFT were normal.

After she got a mucus plug, which caused her to code. They treated her with an additional clot buster. Keep in mind she had a throat bleed from Acid Erosion. Which then caused her to bleed again.

They then hit her with another round of vancomycin but overdosed her. Causing her already weak kidneys that had been fighting an ESBL infection to fail.

I could go on and on. But in the end, we have now discovered my wonderful wife did not die from a Medical illness, but from mistakes made in the hospital. Which killed her.

I had a dream about my wife, and she said.

"Dad I did everything right, and I got a death sentence. And, you now have life with out parole"
