We are fundraising for our remarkable mother, grandmother, sister, wife, friend, Margaret. Margaret loves her co-workers, friends and above all, her family. She enjoys gardening, puzzles, walking, and is an incredible cook. Her favorite dishes to cook are chili con carne, green chili chicken enchiladas and sopa de fideo and Red Enchiladas. Margaret’s spirit leads her to always be the first one to reach out to help others and provide a hand. Margaret would get on the floor with the grandkids to play legos, or read stories, she’d order dozens of Girl Scout cookies, even though she doesn’t eat them, and she moved to New Mexico to support her mom while on Hospice. Now is her time to ask for help.
Margaret has been fighting cancer for the past ten years and with her fierce spirit, is determined not to lose to it. My mom received her first diagnosis of invasive ductal carcinoma breast cancer in 2010, resulting in her left breast mastectomy. In 2019, at 59 years of age, she began experiencing pain in her implant, and after further review, she was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer to her spine and liver.
The first couple of years were incredibly hard. Margaret’s determination led her to try various experimental drugs. In December 2021, prior to starting a clinical trial group, she experienced severe headaches that resulted in further spread to her skull. She received radiation treatment in the skull to reduce inflammation. After a successful round, she is determined to keep going for herself and for her family. Margaret has chosen to start chemotherapy to prolong any time she has left.
We are hoping this fundraiser will help alleviate some of the financial hardship incurred. We appreciate everyone taking the time to read and share her story as well as all the continued thoughts, prayers, and donations. Any support sent her way is lovingly appreciated. ❤️❤️
