Hi, my name is Alex and I am a friend of Margaret Lee, who has recently been diagnosed with breast cancer. Here is her story.
Toward the end of May, a routine mammogram for Margaret detected the presence of a small mass. A biopsy in June confirmed the presence of cancerous cells and a soul-shattering diagnosis of Stage 1 breast cancer. In July, a first lumpectomy was performed to remove the cancerous mass. Then in August, a second lumpectomy was required to remove all the non-invasive cancerous cells that were discovered. This second procedure was to decrease the risk of recurrence. Margaret's physicians are hopeful that, with the two surgeries and the forth-coming treatments (radiation and/or chemotherapy), she will make a full recovery. Praise God for this hopeful news!
However…
At least three challenges have emerged as a result of her cancer: physical, emotional, and of course financial. Margaret is no longer able to work during her treatment and recovery (she has been an elementary school teacher for many years). Medical bills are piling up and her loss of income exacerbates the entire situation. Her husband, Owen, is a local church pastor in the suburbs of Northern Virginia.
Margaret, Owen and their children (Abby, Caleb, and Lizzy) could really use your assistance during these most challenging days. Please consider joining me in making a financial gift. All donations will be sent directly to Margaret in a newly created account during her recovery.
