Margaret Fraser Memorial Rideout Fundraiser

Hi my name is Stacy; I am arranging a beach ride in memorial for my mother Margaret Fraser, who recently lost her battle with cancer. Along with holding the rideout I aim to raise as much money as possible for The Midlothian Community Hospital, particularly their Loan Esk palliative care ward. My mother was first diagnosed with cancer in 2020 and after getting the all-clear, unfortunately, she was rediagnosed in 2022 and attended Midlothian Community Hospital, where she sadly lost her battle.

The caring and helpful staff in the Loan Esk ward provided my mother with the care she needed between April and September 2022 during the most challenging time in her last days with us. They made sure my mother was comfortable and content during her stay and kept my family and me up to date at the most crucial moments; I can not thank them enough.

I hope to raise enough funds to donate to the hospital to put towards new equipment for the palliative care facility and make people's stay there a bit more comfortable. They gave so much in respect of helping my mum; I'd like to give back as much as possible. I aim for this to become an annual event so that my mothers life can be celebrated and remembered doing something she loved most and give back to the hospital that cared for her.

Since most of Margarets life was centred around her love for horses we feel it would be only right to hold an invitation rideout in remembrance. Lasswade was like Margarets second home and her favourite boy there was Hugo (amongst many others). Margaret's last rideout was the John Muir Country Park Beach ride on Hugo, who is now no doubt keeping her company as he sadly passed over rainbow bridge in 2021.

100% of donations to this gofundme will be donated to Midlothian Community Hospital and their palliative care ward by myself (Stacy) after the ride as many non-riders may also wish to take part in the remembrance and donate on the day.
