Marfan Syndrome Surgery-Chandler Signs Fundraiser

Once again (and at the request of a great number of you within Chandler Signs) I am leaning on the mighty Chandler Signs faithful to come to the assistance of one of our own. Times are tough for everyone, but sometimes they’re more challenging for others. This is the case for the spouse of one of our team members. The spouse is ill with a disease called Marfan Syndrome. If you don’t know what that is, Marfan syndrome is a genetic condition that affects connective tissue, which provides support for the body and organs. Marfan syndrome can damage the blood vessels, heart, eyes, skin, lungs, and the bones of the hips, spine, feet, and rib cage. In this particular case, our person has a problem with the aortic artery (the most critical artery in the body). A dissection or aneurism has developed and will require major surgery simply to keep them alive. Yes, to simply keep them alive. The prognosis for survival without the surgery is so low that the doctors feel this surgery must happen. And it is cutting-edge, complex surgery requiring some of the most skillful surgery known to humanity in this age. Yet the success rate is quite good.

But there is a cost for the surgery. This surgery will cost tens of thousands to the family to even get the surgery scheduled. And the reality is that it is simply not available. But what we CAN do is help the cause. Help them pay some bills. Help them put food on the table during this tremendously terrible and stressful time. Their resources have already been depleted from previous Marfan’s related medical issues, so they’re at a last-resort time.

The time of Christmas cheer is upon us. We have been given this opportunity to show our strength as a team and human beings. As always, things like this are entirely voluntary and will come from the goodness of your hearts. For now, the person and their family will remain anonymous. But I can tell you, if you don’t know this person or if you do know them but didn’t know this; you’d be happy to join in the cause. ALL FUNDS, except for GoFundMe fees, will be given directly to this family.

I also ask two other things. 1. Please spread the word to spouses, churches, friends, and anyone who is interested and willing to give. 2) Please add this family to your prayer list. We need every bit of help we can get here.
