MARE - Student Short Film

Hi, my name is Luis Lopes, and I'm the director of 'MARE'.

Mare is a short horror film that talks about the subject of sleep paralysis. The film follows Mathilda, a young woman in her 20s that has been having sleep paralysis since her fathers death. The film talks about the subject of sleep paralysis and it's side effects such as sleep deprivation, anxiety and depression.

Why sleep paralysis? Well, for over 5 years now, I've had sleep paralysis pretty much every single week, at least once a week, and even though I've gotten used to it, it's something that I've always wanted to raise awareness since it can create a lot of bad side effects such as the ones I've mentioned.

This short film is made up of a crew of 12 people, all university students.

A little about the director.

As I've said before my name is Luis Lopes, I was born in Porto, Portugal and I've been living in the UK since 2021. I've moved to the UK to follow my dream of working in film. This is my second short film that I've directed, but I've worked in over 7 short films as an editor.

Every named donation will be included in the credits scene since we believe that everyone that donates is also part of the film since without the donation this film could not be made!
