Security Deposit help for Marcy
Donation protected
A hilarious FB friend of mine once posted "GoFundMe made it cool to beg for money". I liked that post. I also mocked a handful of GoFundMe’s, screenshot and sent them to my group chats over the years; that’s because I’m a cynical and judgmental wretch with a heart of ice. But this isn’t about me, it’s about my sister and nieces.....Here's the sitch: my mom’s house is going to sheriffs sale in a few weeks and while I’m super excited about me and Mary Anne becoming roommates again, unfortunately there is no room at the Inn for Marcy, Tiana and Naima. She has luckily found an apartment but needs some help with the security deposit and in a hurry. She is trying to move in before 9/1 as her daughters are switching schools and it would be cool for them to be settled in for at least a few nights beforehand.
The story of how Marcy arrived at her current situation is important. To make it short and sweet, she didn’t plan properly. I am not skirting her responsibility here. To quote my text to Marcy earlier today, "you get no empathy from me on this one". Foreclosures take a long time in NJ and she should have saved. I was against doing this at first. Wholeheartedly against it. But NJ living isn't cheap and being a single mom who works two jobs certainly isn't easy. And then I started thinking about Marcy and how she is the first person to help her friends in need if she can. She’s kind and funny and her daughters are the sweetest (when they’re not summoning the devil himself, of course). And trust me when I say that, if I had the means to fix this myself, I would.
So I’ll end this with the standard go-to GoFundMe closing, every little bit helps. Many thanks and love.
