My name is Marcus Cartwright, and I've always believed in the power of community and the difference we can make when we come together. I'm a proud father to the most amazing little girl, a local school bus driver here in McMinnville, a full-time college student, and someone who deeply believes in the importance of leading by example. Every day, I strive to pour knowledge and kindness into the young minds I meet, knowing they are the future of our world.
But life took an unexpected turn on May 7th, 2025, when a devastating injury put everything on pause. I ruptured my left Achilles tendon and, during the fall, tore the quad muscle from my right kneecap. This required immediate surgery, leaving me bedridden and unable to work or return home. I'm currently in the hospital, awaiting transfer to a rehabilitation center so I can begin the long road to recovery.
This injury has not only taken a physical toll but has also created financial challenges that I cannot face alone. As a single parent, a student, and someone who takes pride in serving my community, it’s incredibly difficult to ask for help but I need it now more than ever. Medical bills are piling up, and I can’t work to cover basic expenses while I heal.
What keeps me going is the hope of returning to the kids I drive to school every day. My seniors, who are about to graduate high school, and my fifth graders, who are preparing for middle school they mean the world to me. I want nothing more than to cheer them on as they step into the next chapters of their lives.
If you’re able to contribute to my fundraiser, you’ll not only be helping me cover my medical bills and living expenses during this difficult time, but you’ll also be helping me get back to the kids who inspire me every single day. Your support means the world, and I’m so grateful for any help you can provide big or small. Thank you for helping me heal, get back on my feet, and back to the community I love.
