Marcus’s Cancer Treatment

Hi, my name is Ray. My dad, Marcus Masiarak, is an amazing father to me, my little brother Nathan, and my little sister Marianna. He is a single parent who is working extremely hard to support us all.

Recently, he was diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma, or tongue cancer. It has been a long process to get the proper treatment between unresponsive doctors and some who didn’t believe him about his pain. Finally, he was able to find some amazing doctors who have been able to provide him surgery to remove the tumor from his tongue. Although he was able to get treatment, it will be a long road to recovery. The medical bills are very expensive and he still has the three of us to take care of but he will not be able to work for a while following this surgery.

His surgery was completed on June 7th, 2023. When I met with the surgeon following his procedure, he said that it was more significant than they thought so they had to go deeper in his muscle and into the margins a bit more so he won’t be talking or anything for a while. He said when they got into his lymph nodes, he had a few that were pretty swollen and looked like they could be concerning but he said they won’t know for sure if they are cancerous for another week or so when the pathology comes back. They are going to get him into physical therapy as well once he’s recovered a bit more since they had to make the incision in his neck and they want him to make sure he keeps his shoulder and neck active. He said it will be a long process for the next few weeks but that he is doing well. This will be a very long and challenging road for all of us and it would mean the world if you could help us in anyway to afford his medical bills so that our amazing, fun-loving, caring dad can get back to doing all the things he loves with his 3 kids:)) Anything will help!!
