Marcus Taylor's Expenses

Donation protected
Now that my initial shock has worn off I have decided to go back and write a proper bio for my little brother. So here it goes.
Marcus was the smaller of twin boys weighting only 3lbs 2oz. He was always a few inches shorter and 10lbs. lighter than his twin Matthew. I don't know if that gave him more drive to prove himself a bigger man or not but he did. He was a ball of energy. Growing up he loved magic, comics and entertaining any family member willing to pay attention. He wasn't interested in sports or clubs in high school. So it was a surprise to all of us when he announced that he would be signing up with the army's delayed entry program. At the end of his junior year Marcus was off to basic training. We expected this goofy teenager to come back a mature young adult. It didn't change Marcus one bit! He was still the life of the party a cheerful and carefree little boy. Upon graduation Marcus volunteered for active duty as a Multiple Rocket Launcher Systems crewman. A kid from Missouri who didn't even have a drivers license would now be driving tanks. Marcus served 2 tours of duty in Korea and 1 in Iraq where he worked on a traffic control point. Marcus rose to the rank of Sergeant. After completing his enlistment in the active Army he continued to serve in the Reserves.
With all the life threating experiences that Marcus had already been exposed to in his young life you can imagine my shock when I woke up to the message that he had been hit by a car while riding his bicycle. A million questions and thoughts pass through your mind when something tragic happens to a loved one. It was even more shocking to hear that it was a police cruiser that had caused so much damage to his body. I was left torn. It was a blessing that it involved an officer that called for help and not someone who may have fled the scene and left him to die. The other part of me is still angry that a police officer who has training with driving at high speeds and is held to a higher level for responsibility for the safety of the general public has now changed my brother's life forever.
Marcus is on a ventilator to help him breathe, his left leg was broken in 2 spots, a fractured neck, fractued skull, fracture to his eye sockets and a broken jaw.
He will need plastic surgery to repair his face. His jaw will have to be wired shut until it heals. He has had a rod and screws placed to repair his left leg.
Because of his injuries Marcus is left unable to speak or even open his eyes at this point. Each day he gets a little better but he has a long road to recovery ahead. We are asking for donations on his behalf because like so many young adults Marcus lives pay check to pay check. While he lays in a hospital bed for the next few weeks his rent still needs to be paid and his cat needs to be fed. It's the little things that we all forget about when tragedy strikes.
It is a miracle that my little brother is alive. We are so thankful for that. We are also thankful to each one of you that have donated. I will continue to provide updates on his condition if you would like to follow his story.
