Marcus Johnson, our RHS football teammate, and his mother Shaquita are two of the hardest working people I know. Shaquita has generously volunteered what little time she has after working three jobs to help out where she can for the school and football program. Now they need our help!
Marcus recently had to have surgery to help him breathe better. His doctors feared he would not wake up one day because he was not getting enough oxygen to his brain. Shaquita has put off removing a lump from her breast because she has not had the money to pay the deductible to proceed with the surgery. The medical bills have put this family of two in a corner. Marcus’ medical bills from his surgery last month will be about $6,000. In addition, he will have follow-up doctor visits that will be about $119 per appointment (20% out of pocket pay) for at least five more required visits. The follow-up procedures are to ensure the surgery was a success and he will not have any complications/problems in the future.
A minimum of $2,000 will be Shaquita’s portion (deductible) to pay before her surgery can be scheduled. They have trimmed their expenses every way possible. RHS/RISD has helped by providing a mobile hotspot, so Marcus can do his homework at home. Food donations have also been sent. If you can help this sweet family in a stressful time, please donate now.
