Help Marc fight for his sight
Donation protected
Marc has had a life long fight with glaucoma since birth, during the year 2003 he lost all vision in his right eye, currently his left eye has approx 25% of vision left (in 2009 he had approx 60%, in 2014 about 40%) he has had multiple eye surgeries including:
֍ retinal detachment which includes scleral buckling surgery involves positioning a silicone band around your eye beneath your eye muscles to bring in the walls of your eye. This elongates your eye and makes you more nearsighted (1994) Marc wore this silicone band around his eye for 10 years

֍ Trabeculectomy which is a surgical operation which lowers the intraocular pressure inside the eye (IOP) (2010)

֍ Intraocular lenses (IOLs) are medical devices that are implanted inside the eye to replace the eye's natural lens when it is removed during cataract surgery (2014)

There are no more surgeries that can help, so we are trying a different approach.
Now he is at the point where we realized that we need help from our family and friends, strangers and who ever would love to help.
Marc cannot read his computer anymore without a very strong magnifying glass, and has started bumping into things, and knocking things over on accident which is very frustrating for him, his eye sight is noticeably getting worse.
He explains his eye sight as looking through a plastic bag full of water with dark spots here and there, he has to look to his peripheral vision to focus on things. He has floaters, flashes and black and even very bright white spots blocking clear vision. The middle of his eye sight is all dark. There is also a spot where just plain 'nothing' is there, its not black, grey or white, its just nothing, he also explains it like 'imagine a camera lens with spots all over it blocking your view', or say an airplane flying by, you can see it coming, then there is just a blank spot where you don't see it at all, then suddenly you can see it again. It is very exhausting trying to look/focus on a daily basis.
We have plans of getting stem cell therapy to save what he has left, it is the only chance he has to keep what independence he has left. We have finally found someone who is offering 10 day stem cell treatment that has the potential to repair nerve and brain damaged cells, with your help we can make this come true and Marc can keep the sight he has left and hopefully stabilize the damage from further taking away his sight.

Glaucoma causes gradual vision loss and is known as the ‘silent thief of sight’ because it is often only when the disease is at an advanced stage that vision loss occurs, and by then there could be permanent damage.
Glaucoma is the second leading cause of blindness in the world.
