Hi, my name is Marcos and I am a 18 year old trans man. I started testosterone this july 2026 via the private healthcare system in Portugal. I did so because unfortunately the national health service is slow and i felt it was medically necessary to start as soon as I could due to my diagnosed gender dysphoria. Whilst hrt is still accessible via the national health service(with a more than a year long waiting list), any type of surgery is a big no no as it is nearly impossible to access. Ever since i started female puberty I’ve struggled with severe emotional and physical pain as a result of my gender dysphoria not being treated. I highly believe getting top surgery would improve my quality of life as i remember how comfortable and healthy i felt prior to female puberty. I’ve never really wanted a chest and wanted top surgery since i was 13(when i found out i was trans). Now since im 18 i can save up for it…but in Portugal the estimated fees are round 4000€-10 000€ ! Including the appointments, surgery itself and any post surgery care. So, I’ve decided to create this fundraiser. I work part-time at the theatre and make round 200€ a month(I am still a student finishing my last year of highschool and would like to go to uni after that). On top of my current and any future jobs i thought having a fundraiser could speed up the process(I will be saving up money from my job for this surgery). In Portugal you need a second gender dysphoria diagnosis to get top surgery, I already have my first one and can manage a second one through my sexologist. I haven’t choosen the top surgeon yet or gone to any surgery related appointments. Although after some research I am thinking I might go with Dr Gustavo Coelho as he appears to be a prominent name in the top surgery scene in Portugal! I am sorry for not having specific details yet regarding doctors names etc and specific prices but I´d prefer initially staying within this price range as I know it´s around the minimum amount people typically pay!! (Although I´ve been informed the prices can range higher depending on the surgeon). I will update everyone when i do have more details, I just thought starting a GoFundMe might be a good starting point. Thank you so much for reading!
