It saddens me to inform everyone that Marco Huerta had passed away last week. He was one of my best friends and my stage left tour brother. It’s been incredibly difficult for me this past week to even wrap my head around it.
Thank you for everyone that has reached out to me and had kind words and thoughts for Marco and his family.
Marco and I became really close friends during our touring together with Lenny. From the first day he started working with me I knew that it was going to be a blast working together. We got along great and just worked well together. Every time I heard I had a show or work I made sure I threw his name in the mix because I knew that if he was there, anything I missed he had my back. He was always smiling or making jokes and silly faces to get the people around him to laugh. I never had to worry about day off plans cause he always had a brewery or sights or food lined up and ready to go on an adventure. I have so many amazing memories of all the places we visited together and wish we could have gotten to see the rest of the world together like we planned. I will always love you like my brother and will miss you everyday. Touring isn’t going to be the same without you.
Rest In Peace El Vato
I have started a GoFundMe for his family to help with funeral costs and to help them get through this.
Excess funds will be donated to:
The Henry Jackson Foundation which is part of the Dept. of Defense and is looking into injuries caused by blasts in military personnel. The blast result is scaring in the brain that is causing symptoms that mimic PTSD but are physical damage. They have discovered that these symptoms can’t be treated with medication because it’s actual damage and can only be documented after death. This important research will hopefully lead to new ways to detect and treat this damage and may actually change the way many things are done in the military.
