We Love You, Marco Haines

I’ve started this GoFundMe campaign on behalf of my dear friends Ashley Morford-Haines and Marco Haines, as well as on behalf of their families, whom I also love so much.
As you may have heard, Marco Haines tragically passed away on Thursday, February 14th when he went into cardiac arrest and ultimately suffered irreversible brain damage. He was healthy, young, and full of life. His loss is so shocking and the pain of his sudden departure is profound.
Marco was Ashley’s entire world, and she was his. Their lives were wound so beautifully together, in every aspect. They had so many plans for their future together as a couple and as partners in their very own business, which they were launching next year.
Marco’s parents have lost their first child. His brothers have lost their fearless leader. We are all heartbroken. Marco was genuine, thoughtful, intelligent, driven, and witty. He was an incredibly generous friend, a loving husband, a supportive sibling, and a remarkably caring son.
Marco’s community is also reeling from this news. He was a hard worker, dedicated to perfecting anything he set his mind to. His Herb & Bitter family and his fellow service industry colleagues all over the greater Seattle area have lost a kind and brilliant friend, co-worker, and collaborator.
In times like these, friends and family, especially those who live far away, wonder how they can help. It can be overwhelming to those in grief and mourning to decide on tasks for their loved ones to do for them. It can be hard to ask for help, so with the permission of those involved, I am asking on their behalf:
If you are hurting for Ashley and for Marco’s family, if you knew and loved Marco yourself, if you ever had the distinct pleasure of sharing a drink with this talented man, I encourage you to contribute to this account to help with the costs incurred. Ashley, who has lost her partner in all things, now must navigate not only the emotional cost of life without him, but the cost of living as well.
It will not end their sorrow and it will not make this right, but it can help give them just a little peace of mind and just a little more room to breathe while they are trying to process this senseless loss and slowly pick up the pieces together.
Thank you,
Mariah
