Marcie's Back Surgery Fund

Hi my name is Marcie Howard, some of you know me by my nickname Bhavani, and as many of you know my back has been an issue and source of a lot of pain for many years. I was told 4 years ago that since the steroid spinal injections were no longer working, that I needed surgery. The neurosugeon said I needed metal screws and rods put in my lower back. I was mortified at the sight of the erector set and wondered how it could possibly fit inside of me.
I put off having the surgery, hoping I could hold out longer. I chose to get acupuncture, massage, chiropractor treatments which helped for the time being. Now things have progressed and worsened, leaving me with a tremendous amount of pain and exhausted most of the time because of it.
I have degenerative disc disease, lumbar spondylosis, pseudospondylolisthesis, facet arthrosis, spinal stenosis, disc protrusions, herniated disc with radiculopathy and parathesias. Yes it's a lot and a mess due to car accidents, 12 hour night shifts as a CCU nurse for a lot of years and getting old, I guess.
I went again to the neurosurgeon recently and they still want to remove bone and put in the metal erector set which will only help one of the many issues. I checked into laser spine surgery and they can resolve most of the issues with minimally invasive surgery and only a one inch scar.
My insurance will cover the surgery but not the surgical facility fee which is $13,900 out of pocket. Since this is an out-patient procedure in another city I will have to travel and stay in a hotel for 5 nights to be close to the surgery center, which is an added expense.
I need help will all of this since my income is limited. It is not easy to ask for help!! I'm really looking forward to be in less pain and having a better quality of life and with some assistance, I can!! The surgery is scheduled for the third week of June.
