My name is Angela. I am the daughter of Marcia Chunn. My brother, Kenny, and I are reaching out for prayers for our mother, who was diagnosed with breast cancer 4 months ago. She had recently undergone hip replacement surgery due to her hip collapsing. After being diagnosed with cancer, she was treated by several doctors in Monroe. They sent her back and forth and never did anything to help her. Her body was getting weaker and weaker. We finally demanded a referral to Shreveport. When the Breast Cancer Center doctors received her medical records, they immediately gave her a time to be there. One week later, mom has seen two oncologists and a breast surgeon. They are getting her ready for treatment. She has been told that her tumors have doubled in size and have spread to her lymph nodes since her biopsy 8 weeks ago. Her left arm and hand are swollen so bad that she can't use them at all. The doctors have told her this is due to fluid from the (2) biopsies they performed and it is probably permanent. She is in the process of being fit for a sleeve for her arm and a pump to try to keep the fluid away from her heart. She was in Shreveport 2 days this week and appointments are already scheduled for next week. She will have several rounds of chemo, a double mastectomy with removal of all infected lymph nodes, then more chemotherapy and radiation. She will need lots of different meds, shots, more shots under the skin, and some medications for 7 years or longer. We are all devastated. Since her hip surgery, she can't drive due to nerve damage in her right leg and no feeling at all. She has major problems walking. She has a very long road ahead of her. She is scared but she is quick to tell you that "God and I have this! He is going to heal me! I'll be going back to work soon." We ALL know that God is a healer of all things. Nothing is too big for Him! Before all this happened, she worked to help raise her 3 grandchildren. Our father passed away nearly 18 years ago and she had to go to work to be able to take care of herself and keep her home. She has always been active and worked at our shop next door after working daily at her job. Our shop burned to the ground last year and that took away her small amount of extra income. We were all devastated at the loss of her shop. She would work there when she wasn't able. It kept her mind busy.
Mom has not been able to work for the past two years. She's never been the kind to ask for help.
She is a Christian woman and has always been the kind to help others.
If you can give anything, it would help. If you can't, we would all appreciate the prayers for her and our family.
Thank you so much for reading her story and your help. It is so much appreciated!
