The Marcia Punsalan Memorial scholarship will honor Marcia Punsalan, a dedicated teacher and inspiration to Clay High School students for over two decades.
Mrs. Punsalan (or more affectionately known as "Master P") lived her dream in sharing her love for reading and the art of language to all who were lucky enough to be in her presence. She was a role model, an advocate, a leader, and an inspiration. Her students went on to become writers, lawyers, physicians, and even Google engineers. Her ultimate influence is almost incalculable.
However, on September 8, 2019, Marcia unfortunately passed away in her home. While we grieve the loss of Mrs. Punsalan, she leaves a legacy that is cherished by all who loved her. This foundation has been created by her children: Elizabeth, Laura, Michael and Neil, all of whom are Clay High School graduates. We, her family, have decided we want to memorialize the woman who became such a life-changing force in not just our lives, but in the lives of her entire community. Our mother would want nothing more than to see students live a life more fulfilled through education.
Thus, we want to create The Marcia Punsalan Memorial Scholarship in order to help at least one Clay High graduate per year achieve the goal of post-secondary education. The recipient of the award will demonstrate Marcia's commitment to excellence and drive to succeed, by handsomely illustrating their strength with the written word, via an essay submission.
Please join us by making a donation in order to have the Marcia Punsalan Memorial Scholarship become a reality. In lieu of flowers, her family views all contributions to this scholarship as the ultimate act of allowing Marcia Punsalan to positively influence students lives, even after her passing from this earth.
Details:
Depending on the aggregate size of these initial donations, this scholarship will be given to at least one student of each graduating class of Clay High School (Oregon, Ohio) for the use towards continuing education at the post-high school, collegiate level. Winning recipient(s) will be chosen by a committee made up of Mrs. Punsalan's children and will be notified in early April of their graduation year.
Starting Year: Class of 2020
Scholarship Value: $500 to $2,000 per
Student Qualifications:
· Student must fulfill all of the following
· Graduating Senior
· Will be attending College in the next School year/semester
· Cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher
· Completion of a written Essay with prompt to be later announced
