March On!
Written and Directed by By Daniel Carlton
March On Is a storytelling concert /play that takes place over the course of the day of the 1963 March on Washington. Based on the generous interviews with 3 attendees Don Quinn Kelley, Carl Berry and Ellen Frankel , We follow their journey ( and two fictional reporters )from their arrival in Washington DC, to the moment that Martin Luther King, Jr. takes the stage . Through the use of projected images, flashback history scenes( including Claudette Colvin , Elizabeth Eckford, John Lewis Mamie Till, Medgar Evers ) and civil rights songs , their curiosity , mission or determination to get to the March is captured along with the stories of both known and unsung civil rights movement people! Plus many spiritual and movement songs sung solo and in amazing harmonies !
