Marché Norris

In 2011, our fellow teammate, Marché was given devastating news that she has Multiple Sclerosis (MS).

 

Marché is one of the most animated cheerleaders you could have on your team. She is 100% devoted to her beloved Blue Hens. Marché loves all of the University of Delaware sports, especially football and basketball. Even for years after she graduated, she continued to go to all the sporting events she could to cheer on her favorite team! Marché is also a dedicated supporter to all of her cheerleading teammates. During winter sessions Marché, although not on the competition team, would stay after school was let out on break to come to any and all nationals practices to cheer on her teammates.

 

A little bit on multiple sclerosis…

 

Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a potentially disabling disease of the brain and spinal cord (central nervous system).In MS, the immune system attacks the protective sheath (myelin) that covers nerve fibers and causes communication problems between your brain and the rest of your body. Eventually, the disease can cause permanent damage or deterioration of the nerves. Signs and symptoms of MS vary widely and depend on the amount of nerve damage and which nerves are affected. Some people with severe MS may lose the ability to walk independently or at all, while others may experience long periods of remission without any new symptoms. Everyone's progression is different.

 

For years she was dealing with fatigue, numbness and balance issues and were unable to figure out the cause. With countless trips to the ER and seeing multiple different doctors her family finally received a diagnosis.
