March for Paul

As some of you now know, my husband Paul, got awfully sick a few weeks back. He just thought maybe he had the flu. But things were not adding up. He felt lousy sure, but he could not stop hiccuping and burping. He vomited. Which he NEVER does. Had the chills. A fever. Couldn’t sleep. Couldn’t work. Went to the Doctor a week ago Friday. They drew blood. On Saturday night, at 7:30 pm, his doctor called with results. Not good. All enzymes were elevated. He told Paul if he had ANY pain or fever over the weekend to go to the ER.
On Monday morning he had an ultrasound appointment which I drove him to. By the afternoon the results showed nothing whatsoever wrong with any of his organs. But now he is becoming very Jaundice. Made another appointment to see his doctor on Wednesday afternoon. I left work to drive him. No sleep makes you an impaired driver. His doctor took one look at his coloring and immediately direct admitted him into the hospital. Then the battery of tests started. What they found was his main bile duct from his liver to his intestines was completely blocked and his bilirubin count was at 19! Normal would be around 1. He was dying right in front of me. He had surgery and it was difficult because the doctor couldn’t get the wire in the duct it was so blocked. It kept going into his pancreas. When they finally got a little room to get in there, sludge and pus poured out. They believe it’s cancer, but the scrapings were so clouded with infection. He has a temporary stint and needs another surgery in 10 days. They will hopefully get better samples to test, but the surgeon is pretty sure it is cancer. The Jaundice. He’s home, but has lost 12 pounds and doesn’t have of an appetite. The yellow is fading. His eyes were the scariest, yellow and blue.
He cannot work. He has no energy. The antibiotics are making him sick and sticking close to the bathroom.
I am reaching out for help pay the bills from my friends and family. Without his income and with me taking off so much time to be with him, we are really hurting on cash flow.
For all of you who know me, know this is the hardest thing to do, ask for help. But we really need it.
Thank you all for being our friends.
