Hello, this is written on behalf of the Aguilar family. It is with a heavy heart that we share that the health of our Matriarch and beloved mother/grandma/great-grandma has declined to a point where she may not be with us much longer. Her strength has been our strength for so many years, as we have leaned on her for wisdom, advice, stories, or even just her smiles.
Mom's love spread far and wide, from state to state, as she traveled as often as she could to spend time with her family and friends. From the coldest parts of Missouri to the sunniest beaches of San Diego, her adventures always landed her in places where she could shower her family with her affection and appreciation. Once in a particular place, Mom knew the way to many people's hearts was food! Her meals were always accentuated by her fantastic homemade tortillas, and she always knew that there were never enough tortillas.
She was also the type of saint that would give the shirt off her back if it meant taking care of the ones she loves. If it was a few bucks or a few minutes, she would give it, no questions asked. Mom loves sharing the stories of her youth, the moments that gave her inspiration, or even the funny instances that life gave her the space to smile. It was all these moments that culminated in the wonder that is my Mom.
Throughout this time, as we dove deeper into the preparations for her, we stumbled upon her "life insurance" information...or so we thought. It had seemed that years back, our Mom made an attempt to end her policy to find one more affordable. Unfortunately, instead of assisting her in her old age, they decided to give her a policy that -despite the price deduction- would only be an Accidental Death policy. At her age, the agent should've known that what was best for her wasn't a policy that she wasn't going to be able to use at the time of her health decline.
We know that in the midst of every second of her time left with us, we will need to find a way to come up with the funds to help lay her to rest. Our family has been blessed to extend beyond the blood that we share, and include all the relationships we've been able to create by experiencing Mom's heart in all of us. As capable as we are, we still will need help with the remaining costs, which is why we decided to turn to our community. We are hoping that with enough funds raised, we can show our Mom how much she means to us, and how much we can honor the woman who made us who we are today.
With your help, we can alleviate the financial weights that lay on the shoulders of my siblings and me, and help give our Mom the beautiful farewell she has always deserved. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for taking the time to read our Mom's story, and we hope that you find it in your hearts to give whatever you are able to. God bless!
