Hello everybody, my name is Marcela Espinoza Galloway. I am asking for help to pay for my mom’s hospital bills.

My mom has been in intensive care for about three weeks now in a clinic in Santa Cruz Bolivia. She is fighting for her life.

She was admitted with Covid (completely vaccinated), which is why her health insurance won’t cover any of the treatments. Thirty years ago she had a kidney transplant. Because of the infection in her lungs, they are giving her very strong antibiotics that are making her one kidney work extra hard, and now they are also doing dialysis every day. They told us that they are also monitoring her heart. Since she was admitted they have kept her in isolation without any visitation.

My brother and my sister are in Bolivia right now helping my dad. My sister has been paying the bills because they are handing them every week totaling about $26,000.00 US. I am going to Bolivia this Saturday to help my brother and sister with the bills. Besides the bills for the hospital, they have to buy some medicine now for pneumonia that occurs when people are on ventilators. It is a newly developed powered antibiotic that she has to take because of her kidney. Luckily my siblings have been able to find some by going to different pharmacies in the city and outside the city. $150 dollars each vile, and she needs 10.

Many of you might not know this, Bolivia is considered a third-world country. I know a lot of people there that have gone bankrupt because of all the bills from the hospital because of covid. Almost every day I get messages for fundraisers to help pay bills for someone with Covid who is in the hospital or to cover the cost of a funeral. They do festivals food sales, Bingo, etc.

My parents are very generous and are always helping everybody. I guess it is their time to get help back. Please help us raise some funds to help pay the medical expenses and please pray for my mom. It is very sad that she is hooked to a ventilator, and we can’t even tell her to keep fighting or that we are there for her.

My family is very grateful for all your help and prayers for my mom.

Update, since I wrote this on Friday, my mom passed away yesterday Monday, February the 7th. Her lungs were too damaged.

Hola a todos esto es para mi mamá Marthita Landivar de Espinoza

Estoy pidiendo ayuda para poder pagar las cuentas de hospital en Santa Cruz, Bolivia para mi mama que fue ingresada hace 3 semanas con Covid (vacunada). Mis papas tienen seguro medico en la clínica Incor, pero como fue ingresada con Covid no le cubre nada.

Mi mama es trasplantada del riñón desde hace mas de 30 años, ahora por la infección en sus pulmones la están tratando con antibióticos fuertes y eso le esta afectando al riñón así que le están haciendo diálisis todos los días. Su corazón también esta siendo afectado. Ha estado en cuarentena durante todo este tiempo, mi papa no la puede visitar, no lo dejaron ni siquiera hablarle por teléfono cuando ingreso y estaba consciente y solo con tos y un poco de falta de oxígeno.

*Nota. esto lo escribi el viernes 4 de febrero. Mi mama murio ayer Lunes 7 de Febrero. Tuvimos que tomar la decision de parar el tratamiento y dejarla partir. No habia esperanzas de recuperacion.
