Marcelino’s Story.
In December of 2018, Marcelino Quintana suffered a massive hemorragic stroke on the right sight of his brain while exercising at the gym.  The stroke resulted in paralysis to the left side of his body. Marcelino developed pneumonia amongst other complications and spent 34 days in the hospital.  He is currently undergoing rigorous rehabilitation and re-training his brain to communicate with his body again. 

Next Steps: Marcelino will be discharged from his current rehab facility on January 29th. He will be transported to an acute care facility to continue his physical therapy, provided insurance will cover his stay.  Marcelino is expected to need 24/7 care and ongoing outpatient therapy until he completes a full recovery.

Medical costs and other bills that have accumulated during this time continue to skyrocket while he is unable to work. He will also need a wheelchair and ramp, making his home handicap accessible which entails adding a shower to the downstairs bathroom.  Making his home accessible will largely not be covered by insurance.
