Marc Shapiro Funeral Expenses

Donation protected

On Sunday May 23, 2021, Marcus Jay "Shapdog" Shapiro lost his life fighting Stage 4 Melanoma cancer. He was diagnosed around August 2020 with cancer of the brain and abdomen. He then went through surgery and made it out to begin immunotherapy treatment, which was unsuccessful and ended up putting Marc in a coma for several weeks. Marcus came out of a coma to then begin chemotherapy and radiation but the cancer had become more aggressive, and was more than he could handle after already going through so much.

Marc was a beloved brother, uncle, teacher and friend who had a huge heart and sense of humor that could lighten up any room.  He loved his family very much, he treated his nieces and nephews like his own and was deeply involved in all their lives. He was a sports fanatic and loved his Chargers, Clippers,Padres, and of course Wildcats. He had a great passion for his community and youth sports, Brawley in particular. He created Brawley Sports News years ago to cover young local athletes and has hundreds of pictures, videos and interviews that he did to show his passion.

We have set up a Gofundme with a goal of $10,000 in hopes to cover funeral expenses for Marcus. We will update on the funeral date and details after the arrangements are made. He is survived by his two sisters Lori Shapiro Maness & Cathy Shapiro, his nephew Josh Maness, and his nieces Gabrielle Herrera, Penelope Maness & Lauren Maness. Thank you in advance for any contributions made, we deeply appreciate it.
