Marc is a union member who has been working here in Toledo and Detroit area as a traveler from local 123 Tampa Bay. He was working on Detroit just before Christmas and came into contact with someone on the job that had Covid. He became sick December 21,2020 with what we thought was a cold. I became sick December 26,2020 and we spent the weekend trying to medicate and sleep. Sunday night, Monday morning we both decided to go to St Vincent hospital where we were tested and diagnosed positive for covid. Marc took a turn for the worse December 29,2020 and he was admitted to the hospital with an o2 of only 29%, normal being in the high 90-100%. It attacked his heart, lungs and gave him a fever of 106°. He was put on a Ventilator and has been kept in a induced coma and has had his heart shocked back to rhythm 2-3 times. He has been fighting for his life since that day. Today he is able to open his eyes but can't follow commands such as sqeeze a finger or follow a finger with his eyes. He is slowly being weened off the sedation and paralytic they had him on and hopefully he his fighting to come back to me. Every day celebrate a struggle. Some days we celebrate the simple things we usually take for granted such as a unassisted breath. We don't know the lengths of damage done and won't know for awhile. All I know is we will fight this every step of the way. Marc has always been proud of being a union brother and is the first to help anyone in need. I honestly never though I'd be the one asking for help but we honestly don't know how long his recovery will be. Thank you all for your prayers and thoughts.
